THE FOUNDATION!
This endeavor was an established district project in effort to renovate and update our Piscataway Campus main entrance and lobby, known as "The Atrium". The task objective was to create a solid foundation for a Pirate Ship structure our students will soon begin building, intended to be used as a focal point and common area for our school community. This was an intense project which required extensive preparation involving, safety protocols, crowd/personnel control, concrete delivery, equipment and material staging. Much like a professional job site, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders worked collaboratively to ensure the site was secured, safe and ready for a very time sensitive venture which would forever change their educational experience! RESIDENTIAL NEW CONSTRUCTION!
The main goal and objective of our Construction Trades & Carpentry program, is to deliver the most authentic and realistic job site experience for each and everyone of our students. Our students have currently broken ground on an amazing project to build a full size 2,400 square foot Center Hall Colonial home. This project will not only deliver the most authentic educational experience, it will also allow students the opportunity to engage in the step by step process of building a residential dwelling from the ground up. Students will encounter authentic job site scenarios, decision making experiences, and adapting to working under less than ideal weather conditions. The process has already begun! Students have engaged in site preparations, staking and mark outs, fabrication of forms and pouring 4,000 PSI high strength concrete for the foundation footings. This is just the beginning, there is lots more to come! PLEASE CLICK ON THE BUTTON TO THE left AND ENJOY THE PROJECT PHOTOS! |
